Film Description
The Logs of Janitor 52 is a sci-fi story that starts off light and a little ridiculous, then slowly turns into something way more unsettling. It follows Alex, a pretty normal guy who has spent the last year awake on a transport ship cleaning up after thousands of people in cryosleep. He is counting down the seconds until he can go back under and finally reunite with his girlfriend, Greta.
Right when he is about to clock out, everything breaks.
A malfunction in the cryostasis system prevents the next worker from waking up, leaving Alex stuck. What was supposed to be his last day turns into day 366, then 423, then 500. With no real skills to fix the problem and way too many buttons in front of him, every attempt he makes just digs the hole deeper.
The film leans into awkward humor and absurd situations early on, but underneath it all is a slow burn into loneliness and denial. By the end, it becomes clear that the real problem is not the broken system. It is what happens to a person when they are left completely alone with nothing but time, memory, and their own mind.
